The State requests the strengthening of the roof deck by installing additional or longer nails through the wood decking into the trusses. This has been standard practice at Weatherproof Roofing for years. This is done by re-nailing the decking with 8D ring-shanked nails.
The next item the State request is a second water barrier to prevent water intrusion. Weatherproof Roofing has been using peel-and-stick/secondary water-resistant barriers for years. We apply the SWR direct to the deck over the entire deck.
Lastly, standard practice for Weatherproof Roofing is using strong hurricane-resistant roof shingles. We have been using GAF shingles for years, and they have a wind rating of 150 mph.
